The Green Acorn Award Scheme has the following aims:
to encourage members to consider the effect their business may have on its surroundings;
to promote a number of simple ideas that could make a significant impact;
to give recognition to members adopting business practices that will help protect our local environment.
The effect of even a small number of changes made by individual businesses can, collectively, make a tangible difference. The scheme requires only a number of relatively simple actions that should cost very little. In fact, the scheme will also often produce savings in running costs.
The Green Acorn Award Scheme is continuing to gain credibility as more businesses become members. The process to “ be seen to be green,” is quite straightforward and membership is not expensive.
