THE GREEN ACORN AWARD SCHEME.

THE GREEN ACORN AWARD SCHEME is a cost effective alternative for businesses that wish to show their customers they really care about the environment.

The scheme is endorsed by the Cornwall Sustainable Tourist Project (CoaST) and, whilst aimed mainly at service providers, it gives recognition to owners of all types of businesses who wish to do more to reduce their impact on the environment.

Visitors to Cornwall are nowadays more aware of the part we all play in safeguarding our precious environment. They are becoming increasingly attracted to establishments and businesses that take an active interest in protecting and supporting their local areas. Together, it is possible to make a tangible difference to the impact we all have on our local environment.

The Green Acorn Award Scheme has the following aims:

•  to encourage members to consider the effect their business may have on its surroundings;

•  to promote a number of simple ideas that could make a significant impact;

•  to give recognition to members adopting business practices that will help protect our local environment.

The effect of even a small number of changes made by individual businesses can, collectively, make a tangible difference. The scheme requires only a number of relatively simple actions that should cost very little. In fact, the scheme will also often produce savings in running costs.

The Green Acorn Award Scheme is continuing to gain credibility as more businesses become members. The process to “ be seen to be green,” is quite straightforward and membership is not expensive.

For further information and a list of criteria please contact Edythe Coles on 01503 269320 (mob. 07706 633492). Details of the scheme can also be found on the Secta web site – www.secta.org.uk/green_acorn_award.htm

BoBM supports The Green Acorn Award Scheme ………… because we care.
